A sneak peek at some new works in development for an industry audience, curated by Dublin Theatre Festival.

SISTER
In the early 1980’s, an all-female matriarchal cult moved from the UK to a small town in Ireland. What followed was two decades of fantasy world-building, sadomasochism, and lying to the press. The Silver Sisterhood was a cult of contradictions, preaching utopia while terrorising their disciples. They claimed to reject modernity while coding video games for the Commodore 64. They constantly recast themselves, swapping identities so frequently it makes it almost impossible to figure out who they really were. SISTER is a new collaboration between Dublin-based theatre-makers Eoghan Carrick + Lauren Jones and UK performance collective Figs in Wigs.

DÚLAMÁN
The end of the world has arrived. The sun, violent and angry, is about to consume heaven and earth. Tectonic plates that have collided and separated for millenia are about to be lost in fire. Birds, bugs, mammals, and oceans turned to stars. And amongst it all, two women. Lovers, friends, enemies, allies, and, at the end of it all, seaweed farmers. Women of the land. Even when that land is about to vanish to time. In this new Irish language work by Danielle James, directed by James Riordan, DÚLAMÁN explores legacy, love, language, and what’s at stake when you live at the end of the world.

HEIST!
“I’m putting together a team and I’d like for you, all of you, to be on it.” In exactly 6 days from now, a local shop in a small village in Co. Kildare will be the site of the greatest heist in Irish history. HEIST! is a show about stealing and our complicated relationship with it. A rural mystery told in a nonchronological order dictated by the audience, the show asks us to question everything and trust no one. Written by Dafe Pessu Orugbo
