It’s almost that time of year again!
This year Friends are invited to an early December performance of a reimagined Brendan Behan’s The Quare Fellow at the Abbey Theatre. Directed by Tom Creed, the adaption promises to be a never seen before version with its traditionally all male cast played by female and non-binary actors.
The play centres on the arrival of a condemned murderer to Mountjoy Prison in the 1950’s. The prison’s diverse inhabitants offer a darkly comic mirror to life outside the walls offering an intimate insight into prisoner’s lives inside the walls of Mountjoy.
100 years since Brendan Behan’s birth and almost 40 years since the production last graced the Abbey stage it will be an evening not to be missed this December with post show light refreshments to get you in the Christmas spirit.
